These are the eClips "10 Commandments" , as revealed by the newspaper publishers to ordinary mortals.
These 'commandments' may not be broken for any reason without prior written consent from the NLA. If you are found to be in violation of any of these rules, you may be subject to penalties up to revocation of your NLA licence. Please contact us if you have any questions about any of these rules.
- Thou shall not store any PDF files locally for all publications you take from the eClips database.
- Thou shall not email clippings as attachments in any format: PDF, JPG, GIF, DOC, etc...
- Thou shall not covet thy neighbour’s News International (NI) content. Digital NI content is available ONLY through the eClips database.
- Thou shall not permit access to any NLA licensed digital material without individual user password control (anyone able to view digital clippings must have an individual username and password).
- Thou must delete all article text after 28 days.
- Thou shall place a copyright notice on each cutting (not just on the cover page).
- Thou shall not create auto-generated summaries of any length.
- Thou shall only store NLA text in a managed database that allows remov al of rights sensitive and libellous material.
- Thou shall not encourage thy client to archive content. “My Archive” is the only legitimate archive.
- Thou shall not allow clients to ad-hoc search the XML data in your database.
These are not a substitute for and do not change your licence obligations.
